The Cicero Goddard Peck House is a special old house located at 18 Mechanicsville Road in Hinesburg, Vermont. It was built in 1896. A very important person in the town, Cicero Goddard Peck, had it built. This house is a great example of Queen Anne Victorian style architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. This means it's an important historical building that should be protected.

What Does the Peck House Look Like?

The Cicero Goddard Peck House is in the village of Hinesburg. You can find it on the south side of Mechanicsville Road. It's just a bit east of where that road meets Vermont Route 116.

Outside the House

The house is made of wood and has 2-1/2 stories. It's shaped a bit like the letter "L". The main part of the house has a pointed roof end (a gable) that faces the road. A side part of the house (called an ell) also has a pointed roof.

There's a porch with one story tucked into the "L" shape. A cool, round, three-story tower sticks out from the front corner. The outside walls are covered with wooden boards called clapboards. Some parts also have fancy, rounded wooden shingles. There's also a bay window that sticks out from the front. The porch has round posts holding it up. It also has a railing with square balusters (small posts).

Inside the House

When you go inside, you can still see many of the original features from when the house was built. These include special doors that slide into the walls, called pocket doors. There's also a china cabinet in the dining room. The original wooden floors and decorative trim (moulding) are still there too.

The Cicero Goddard Peck House was built in 1896 for Cicero Goddard Peck. His family was very well-known in the area.
