Cindy Callaghan (born around 1976) is an American author. She writes many exciting books for kids in middle school. Her first book, Just Add Magic, became a popular TV show on Amazon.

About Cindy Callaghan

Her Early Life

Cindy Callaghan grew up in New Jersey. She lived in towns called Oakland and Franklin Lakes. She went to Heights Elementary School and later Colonial Road School. After that, she attended Franklin Avenue Middle School. She graduated from Indian Hills High School in 1988.

After high school, Cindy studied film at the University of Southern California. She then went to the University of Delaware. There, she earned degrees in English and French in 1992. She later got her Master of Business Administration degree in 1996.

Becoming an Author

Cindy Callaghan worked in the pharmaceutical industry for almost 20 years. She lives in Wilmington, Delaware. This city is even the setting for some of her books!

She started writing her first book, Just Add Magic, in 2003. It was published in 2010 by Simon & Schuster. This book is about a 12-year-old girl named Kelly Quinn. Kelly and her two friends find an old book. It has magical recipes inside!

The Just Add Magic Series

In January 2015, Amazon Prime Video released a pilot episode of Just Add Magic. This was to see if people liked it enough for a full TV series. Cindy Callaghan helped as a consultant for the show. She wrote ideas and gave advice to the producers.

The show was picked up for a full season in 2016. Amazon then made a second season in June 2016. The second part of Season 2 came out in January 2018.

The Lost In Adventures

In October 2013, Simon & Schuster published another book by Cindy. It was called Lost in London. This book is a mystery about a girl named Jordan. She goes on an amazing adventure in London.

In 2014, Cindy wrote another book set in Europe. Lucky Me was later republished as Lost in Ireland in 2016. It's about a teenage girl who travels to Ireland. She hopes to break a streak of bad luck.

Cindy wrote three more books in the "Lost In" series:

  • Lost in Paris (March 2015)
  • Lost in Rome (August 2015)
  • Lost in Hollywood (2016)

Awards and New Books

Cindy Callaghan has won awards for her books. In 2017, her book Sydney MacKenzie Knocks 'Em Dead won the Agatha Award. This award is for the best children's or young adult mystery book.

In 2018, her book Cindy's Potion Problems (Just Add Magic) also won the Agatha Award. This was again for the best children's or young adult mystery.

In 2020, Cindy released a new book. It is called Saltwater Secrets.
