Early Life and Education
Claire Louise Evans grew up in the seaside town of Aberystwyth in Wales. She was the oldest child of her parents, Geraint and Michelle. Claire attended St Padarns Roman Catholic Primary School and later went to Penglais Comprehensive School.
A Talented Athlete
Claire was a very skilled athlete who represented Wales in sports. She won many Welsh championship titles in running events, including races over 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 5000 meters, and 10,000 meters, as well as cross country running. She competed for Wales internationally for several years.
Besides running, Claire was also a competitive swimmer at the county level. She even has a special qualification in sports therapy, which is about helping athletes recover from injuries. Claire's younger brother, Daniel Evans, was also a talented runner who represented Wales. Their youngest sibling, Rhian Evans, chose to focus on amateur acting instead of sports.
Becoming Miss Wales
In 2005, Claire Evans won the title of Miss Wales. This meant she got to represent her country at the Miss World competition, which was held in China that year. Claire was the first person from Aberystwyth and the Ceredigion area to win the Miss Wales title.
During her year as Miss Wales, Claire attended many events. She was also chosen to be an ambassador for the 2006 Heineken Cup Rugby tournament, working alongside famous rugby players Ieuan Evans and Rob Howley. Claire and Ieuan even took the Heineken Cup trophy to the top of Snowdon, which is the highest mountain in Wales!
In 2007, Claire competed in the Miss Great Britain contest and finished in 6th place. She also appeared in various magazines and music videos. She was featured on a TV show for Sky's Living TV, which was hosted by Tara Palmer-Tomkinson. Claire also had a six-page modeling feature in a fashion magazine called Citta Bella in Malaysia.
Miss UK Hawaiian Tropic
In 2009, Claire won another title: Miss UK Hawaiian Tropic. This allowed her to represent the UK at the international finals later that year.
In the same year, Claire also completed a course in London to become a professional makeup artist. She has worked on many high-fashion photo shoots and for the Yes London brand at London Fashion Week. Her TV work as a makeup artist includes the BBC series Elizabeth's Wales and covering the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations. She has also done makeup for BBC presenter Sian Williams and for celebrity guests on shows like X-Factor. Claire worked with Sophie Evans, a star from the West End musical Wizard of Oz, and with famous opera singer Bryn Terfel. Her makeup skills even led to her being hired by Universal France for a filming project with French artist Garou. Claire has traveled internationally for her work, including a recent project for two major fashion brands in the Bahamas. She also did the makeup for Miss England Alize Lily Mounter's portfolio for the Miss World competition.
Personal Life
From 2008 to 2009, Claire Evans was in a relationship with Welsh rugby player Mike Phillips. They lived together in Penarth during that time.
