Clanculus (Paraclanculus) peccatus is a type of medium-sized sea snail. It is a marine gastropod mollusc. This snail belongs to the family Trochidae, which are often called top snails.
About the Snail's Shell
The shell of this snail can grow up to 12 millimeters (about half an inch) tall. It also has a diameter of 12 millimeters. This means its shell is roughly as tall as it is wide.
Where This Snail Lives
This particular sea snail species is only found in New Zealand. It lives in the ocean, usually under rocks. You can find it at depths of about 15 to 20 meters (around 50 to 65 feet). It has been spotted off the coast of Great Barrier Island.
