Early Life and Musical Journey
Clara Sinde Ramallal was born in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. From a young age, she loved music. She studied composition, singing, and playing the guitar with a teacher named Consuelo Mallo Lopez.
In 1953, when she was just 18 years old, Clara received a special award called an honorary diploma. This was from the Argentine Association for Chamber Music, showing how skilled she was even early in her career.
Performing and Touring
Clara Sinde Ramallal traveled all over South America, sharing her music. She performed as both a singer and a guitarist. Later, she formed a group called the Sinde Ramallal Trio. This trio included two of her own students, Gloria Boschi and Silvia Molinari, which shows she was also a dedicated teacher.
Clara also helped bring new music to life. She performed the very first public performances (called "premieres") of works by other composers like Elsa Calcagno, Alfonso Galluzzo, and Bianchi Pinero.
Clara's Compositions and Arrangements
Clara Sinde Ramallal's original music and her arrangements for guitar are published by a famous music company called Casa Ricordi. This means her music can be bought and played by musicians around the world.
What is a Composition?
A composition is a piece of music that a composer creates from scratch. It's their original idea!
- Barmi Aire de Milonga
* This is one of Clara's own compositions. A "milonga" is a type of folk music and dance from Argentina and Uruguay, similar to a tango. So, "Aire de Milonga" means it has the feel or spirit of a milonga.
What is an Arrangement?
An arrangement is when a musician takes an existing piece of music and changes it to be played by different instruments or in a different style. Clara often arranged famous classical pieces for the guitar.
- Allegro, opus 100 (by Mario Giuliani)
- Concierto en Re (for three guitars; by Antonio Vivaldi)
- Prelude No. 1 (by Johann Sebastian Bach)
- Rondo No. 2 (by Matteo Carcassi)
- Sonata-Gavota (by Domenico Scarlatti)
