Claude Porter White (born April 30, 1907, died March 16, 1975) was an American writer and a talented music composer. She wrote three operas and many other musical pieces. Claude was born in Cleburne, Texas. She went to Southwestern University and then studied music at Northwestern University and the Aspen Music School. She also attended a special meeting for composers in Dallas, Texas. In 1934, she married Claude L. White. They lived in Corsicana, Texas, and had two daughters.

Claude Porter White was also a publisher. She started and edited a newspaper called "The Texas Opera News" in 1973. She wrote a book of poems called Fruits of My Spirit. In 1974, she was recognized in a special book called International Who's Who in Poetry.

White was very involved in music clubs. She started the Tune 'N Fork Club in Corsicana. She was also a lifelong member of the Texas Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs. She led the Texas club's group for writers and its organization for adult composers. After she passed away in 1975, a special fund was created in her name, called the Claude Porter White Fund for Young Composers. This fund helps young musicians who are just starting out.
