History of Claysville
Claysville has an interesting past! It was first established in 1828 and was known by a different name: Middletown. Imagine a place getting a whole new name!
The name change happened in 1839. That's when the first post office opened in the community. To avoid confusion with other places named Middletown, it was renamed Claysville. The post office served the community for many years until it finally closed down in 1906.
