Exploring Clear Lake
If you live near Clear Lake, you might notice canals on its southwest side. These canals help boats get to the lake from nearby houses. A busy road called John Young Parkway runs along part of the lake's western side. A small piece of this road even crosses the very western edge of Clear Lake.
Fun Things to Do at the Lake
Clear Lake is a great spot for outdoor fun! Lots of people enjoy fishing, walking, and boating here. However, it's important to know that there are no public swimming areas along the lake's shore. So, while you can enjoy the water from a boat, you can't go for a swim.
Parks Around Clear Lake
You'll find three public parks right next to Clear Lake, offering different ways to enjoy the outdoors.
Washington Shore Park
On the far western side of the lake is Washington Shore Park. This park is perfect for sports lovers! It has a track for running, a big football field, and four softball fields where you can play ball with friends.
Clear Lake Park
Down on the southeast edge of the lake is Clear Lake Park. This park is great for a relaxing day. You can walk along its trails, cast a fishing line from the fishing dock, or stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy the views of the lake.
George Barker Memorial Park
In the northeast corner of Clear Lake, you'll find George Barker Memorial Park. This park is a hub for lake activities. It has a public boat ramp on a canal that leads right into Clear Lake, making it easy to launch your boat. The park also features two fishing piers, fun playgrounds for younger kids, a volleyball court, and a basketball court.
What Fish Live in Clear Lake?
If you love fishing, Clear Lake has some exciting catches! According to the Take Me Fishing website, you can find several types of fish here. These include the popular largemouth bass, a fish called a wiper (which is a mix of two different types of striped bass), and the common bluegill.
