History of Clearasil

Clearasil was first created in the United States in 1950. A person named Ivan Combe and a chemist named Kedzie Teller invented it. At that time, it was the first skin care brand made just for younger skin. It was designed to help fight against pimples.

The first Clearasil product used ingredients like sulfur and resorcinol. These were similar to ingredients in other acne products for adults. To help people learn about Clearasil, Ivan Combe promoted it on a popular TV show called American Bandstand.
