Clearasil is an American brand that makes products for skin care. These products are mostly used to help treat and prevent pimples (also known as acne). Clearasil products contain special ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These ingredients help to clean skin and fight against pimples. Clearasil offers many different products. Some work quickly, while others are for daily use to keep skin clear. People all over the world can buy Clearasil products.

The Story of Clearasil

How Clearasil Started

Clearasil was created in the United States in 1950. A person named Ivan Combe invented it with the help of a chemist named Kedzie Teller. At that time, Clearasil was special. It was the first skin care brand made just for younger skin to help with pimples. The first products used ingredients like sulfur and resorcinol.

Growing Popularity and New Owners

To help more people learn about Clearasil, Ivan Combe used a popular TV show called American Bandstand. This helped the product become well-known.

Over the years, Clearasil has been owned by different companies:

  • In 1960, a company called Richardson-Vicks bought the brand.
  • Later, in 1985, Procter & Gamble bought Richardson-Vicks, which included Clearasil.
  • In 2000, Clearasil became part of the Boots Group.
  • Finally, in 2006, a large British-Dutch company called Reckitt Benckiser bought Boots Healthcare International, and Clearasil became part of their family of brands.
