Where is Clement Located?
Clement is about eight miles northwest of the town of Ste. Genevieve. This makes it a part of the beautiful landscape of southeastern Missouri. A small stream from Staples Hollow also flows into Establishment Creek right at this spot.
How Clement Got Its Name
For a while, Clement was called Establishment. This name came from its closeness to Establishment Creek. There was also an Establishment Island nearby in the Mississippi River floodplain.
The name Clement came later. It was named after people who had a fishing club in the area. This shows how local activities can sometimes give places their names!
The Clement Post Office
Clement once had its own post office. It opened in 1909. However, it only stayed open for a short time. The post office closed just two years later, in 1911.
