Clifford Trent Robinson (born on March 13, 1960) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for several teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) during his career.

Cliff Robinson's NBA Journey
Starting with the New Jersey Nets
Cliff Robinson graduated from the University of Southern California. In 1979, he was chosen by the New Jersey Nets in the 1979 NBA draft. He was the 11th player picked overall. For two years in a row, Cliff was the youngest player in the entire NBA.
He had a strong first season with the Nets. He averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. On March 9, 1980, Cliff scored an amazing 45 points against the Detroit Pistons. This was the most points ever scored in an NBA game by a teenager at that time.
Moving to Other Teams
On June 8, 1981, Cliff Robinson was traded to the Kansas City Kings. A trade in basketball means players are exchanged between teams. He played 38 games for the Kings and averaged his career best of 20.2 points per game. After that, he was traded again, this time to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
One of his best games as a Cavalier was on April 15, 1983. Cliff scored 40 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. This helped his team win 132–124 against the Indiana Pacers.
Consistent Scoring and Key Moments
From 1979 to 1989, Cliff consistently scored well. He usually averaged between 18 and 20 points per game. This was true even though he played for different teams. His best season was in 1985–86 when he played for the Washington Bullets.
That season, he scored a total of 1,460 points in 78 games. He also shot his best free throw percentage at 76.2%. On December 12, 1985, Cliff scored 21 points. He made a game-winning jump shot with only one second left in overtime. This shot helped the Bullets beat the Milwaukee Bucks 110–108.
In the playoffs that year, Cliff played very well. He averaged 21.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He also had 2 steals per game. His team had a tough series but lost 3–2 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Later Career and Retirement
In 1986, Cliff Robinson and another player, Jeff Ruland, were traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. They were traded for NBA legend Moses Malone. Cliff left the NBA in 1989. However, he later returned to play for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1991–92 season.
He finished his professional career in 1994. Overall, he averaged 17.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
