Climax is a small, unincorporated community in Collin County, Texas. An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it does not have its own local government. It is part of the larger Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area. In 2000, about 40 people lived in Climax.

History of Climax
Early Settlers and Growth
The first person to settle in the Climax area was William Warden. He arrived in 1844 from Missouri. In 1850, he received a special land grant from Peter's Colony. This grant gave him 640 acres (about 259 hectares) of land. It was located along the east fork of the Trinity River. Soon after, he and his family started farming there.
By the mid-1890s, Climax was a busy little community. It had two cotton gins, which cleaned cotton. There was also a grain elevator for storing crops. The community had a church, a hotel, and a general store. A post office opened in Climax in 1895. It stayed open until 1901. After that, mail for Climax was sent from Farmersville. For most of its history, Climax has been a place where local farmers could buy and sell goods. The population stayed around 40 people from 1940 to 2000.
Important Event in 1974
On June 29, 1974, an industrial accident happened in Climax. A large amount of vinyl chloride was released into the air. This happened from a train car. About 108 tons of the chemical escaped.
Geography of Climax
Climax is located in the middle of Collin County. You can find it where Farm to Market Road 1377 and Farm to Market Road 2756 meet. It is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of McKinney.

In the mid-1890s, Climax had its own school. Today, students in the community attend schools in the Princeton Independent School District. Younger students go to Leta Horn Smith Elementary School. Middle school students attend Clark Middle School. High school students go to Princeton High School.
