The Story of the Cement Plant
Clinchfield began in the early 1920s. It was created for the workers of a big factory. This factory was the Penn-Dixie cement plant. People needed homes close to their jobs. So, Clinchfield grew as a place for these workers to live. The cement plant is still working today. It makes cement, which is used to build roads and buildings. Today, the plant is owned by a company called Cemex, Inc.
