Clitarchus is a special group of stick insects. These amazing insects are part of the Phasmatidae family. They are the most common stick insects you can find in New Zealand.
You can spot Clitarchus stick insects all over the North Island. They also live in some parts of the South Island. They often hide on plants like kanuka and manuka. You might even find them in your garden on different plants!

Scientists have found and named three different types of Clitarchus stick insects. Each one is unique!
