Cmune was a Chinese company that made computer games. It started in 2007. Cmune was best known for creating UberStrike, a popular online game. The company had offices in Beijing, China and San Francisco, United States. Cmune stopped operating in 2020.

UberStrike was a game where players could shoot each other from a first-person view. This means you see the game through your character's eyes. It was a 3D game that you could play for free in your internet browser. It was also available on its own website and on the App Store for Mac and iOS devices. For a while, it was the biggest first-person shooter game on Facebook.

Games Made by Cmune

Cmune created three main games: UberStrike, DeadHeads, and UltraHunt. The company also worked on another game called PAYDAY: Crime War for a short time.

UberStrike: A Popular Online Shooter

Uberstrike
Paradise Paintball was later renamed to UberStrike.

UberStrike first launched in November 2008 under the name Paradise Paintball. It quickly became very popular. For four months, it was the number one game on Apple Dashboard. It was also the first 3D multiplayer game that you could play in real-time on Facebook and MySpace.

In UberStrike, players could buy special items inside the game, like new weapons or character outfits. This was done through "micropayment systems," which means buying small things without leaving the game.

On November 16, 2010, Paradise Paintball changed its name to UberStrike. The game also had a community forum where players could chat and share tips. Sadly, Cmune announced that UberStrike would close on April 13, 2016. The game servers were shut down on June 13, 2016.

DeadHeads: Mobile Shooter Fun

DeadHeads was another online first-person shooter game made by Cmune. It launched in May 2017. This game was made for mobile devices, like Android phones and iPhones.

DeadHeads had many cool features. It offered 12 different weapons and lots of skins to customize them. Players could choose from 4 "survivor" characters and 5 "infected" characters, each with their own unique looks. The game featured 10 maps, some of which were inspired by UberStrike. DeadHeads was also shut down around 2020.

UltraHunt: The Battle Royale Game

UltraHunt was a battle royale game that Cmune started developing in 2018. It was planned for Android and iOS devices. A battle royale game is where many players fight against each other until only one person or team is left.

UltraHunt was in a very early testing stage, called "closed pre-alpha." This means only a few people could play it to test it out. Not much information is known about this game because it was still being developed when Cmune closed.

Awards and Recognition

Cmune received some awards for its games. On May 28, 2009, Paradise Paintball was chosen as a winner in the Facebook fbFund 2009 program. This program was run by Facebook along with other investment companies.

Cmune was also nominated for two "Unity Awards" in 2011. These awards celebrate games made with the Unity game engine. Cmune was nominated for the Community Choice Award, which is chosen by players, and The Cross Platform Award, for games that can be played on many different devices.
