Coal Fire is a small place in Pickens County, Alabama, in the United States. It's known by a few other names too, like Cold Fire, Coalfire, and Fundee. It's an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
The Story of Coal Fire
This community was first called Fundee. That name came from combining two important family names in the area: the Funderburks and the DeLoaches.
Later, the community got its current name, Coal Fire. It was named after a nearby creek. People sometimes called this creek "Coal Fire" and other times "Cold Fire."
A post office opened in Coal Fire in 1871. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1927.
