About Coates's Shark

Coates's sharks are born quite small. When they are just born, they are about 380 millimetres (15 in) to 400 millimetres (16 in) long. That's about the length of a school ruler!

How Big Do They Get?

As they grow into adults, Coates's sharks get much bigger. They can reach lengths from 89 millimetres (3.5 in) to 813 millimetres (2.667 ft). The biggest ones can be around 870 millimetres (2.85 ft) or even 880 millimetres (2.89 ft) long. Imagine a shark almost as tall as a person!

Where Do They Live?

These sharks like to live in the ocean from the very top surface down to about 123 metres (404 ft) deep. This means they can be found in shallower waters near the coast.
