Cobban is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Cobban is located in Chippewa County, within the area known as the town of Arthur.

You can find Cobban right by the Chippewa River. It's situated where two roads, County Highways K and TT, meet. This spot is about 5.2 miles (8.4 km) south-southwest of a larger town called Cornell.

History of Cobban

When Was Cobban Established?

Cobban got its start as a community in the early 1900s. A special office for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was opened in Cobban in 1904. This post office helped people in the area send letters and packages for many years.

Why Is It Called Cobban?

The community kept its post office running until 1934. Cobban was named after a person who owned land in the area. His name was S. C. F. Cobban. It was common for places to be named after important landowners or founders back then.
