Cocapata Municipality (which is called Kukapata in the Quechua language) is a special area in central Bolivia. It is one of the three main sections of the Ayopaya Province. This province is part of the larger Cochabamba Department.
The main town, or "seat," of Cocapata Municipality is a place also called Cocapata. In 2001, about 411 people lived there. Cocapata is known for its many interesting places to visit. You can find ancient rock art, see amazing wildlife like the Andean bear (also known as kucumari), and spot wild vicuñas in the Altamachi region.
