Coldspring, Missouri facts for kids

Coldspring (sometimes called Cold Spring) is a small, unincorporated community in the middle of Douglas County, in the southern part of Missouri. It's located in the scenic Ozarks region. You can find Coldspring along Missouri Route 76 and near a stream called Clever Creek. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.

The Story of Coldspring

Coldspring got its name because there was a cool, fresh spring of water near where the community first started. Imagine how important a good spring was for people long ago!

A post office opened here in 1875, and it was first called "Cold Spring." Later, in 1894, its name was changed to "Coldspring." This post office served the community for many years before it closed down in 1957.
