Cole is a small town located in McClain County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It's a friendly community where people live and work. In 2020, about 624 people lived there. This was a bit more than the 555 people counted in 2010.
History of Cole
The town of Cole started thanks to a gift of land. Mrs. A. E. Cunningham and Judge Presley Cole donated about 10 acres (40,000 square meters) of their land. The town was named Cole because Cunningham was thought to be too long.
Cole's first post office opened in 1912. It was first located in the Cunningham family home. Later, it moved to Read's General Merchandise Store.
On April 19, 2023, a very strong tornado, called an EF3 tornado, hit the community. It caused a lot of damage and destroyed many houses.
