Cole Bryson Tucker (born July 3, 1996) is an American baseball player who used to play professionally as a shortstop and outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, and Los Angeles Angels.

Early Life and Amateur Baseball

Cole Tucker grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He went to Mountain Pointe High School where he played on the school's baseball team. He was a talented player and even played for the United States national baseball team in the 2013 18U Baseball World Cup. After high school, he planned to play college baseball at the University of Arizona.

Professional Baseball Career

The Pittsburgh Pirates chose Cole Tucker in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 24th player picked overall. He signed with the Pirates on June 12, 2014, and received a signing bonus of $1.8 million.

He started his professional career in 2014 with the Gulf Coast League Pirates. In 2015, he played for the West Virginia Power, where he had a good batting average of .293 and stole 25 bases. He continued to play in the minor leagues, moving up to teams like the Bradenton Marauders and the Altoona Curve. In 2017, he had a strong season, hitting six home runs and stealing 47 bases.

Experts at MLB.com thought Cole was one of Pittsburgh's top young players before the 2018 season. The Pirates then added him to their main team list. He started the 2019 season with the Indianapolis Indians. On April 20, he was called up to the major league team. He played his first major league game that day against the San Francisco Giants. In that game, Cole hit his first major league home run, which helped the Pirates win. Later that year, the Pirates sent him back down to a minor league team.

In 2020, the Pirates had Cole play as an outfielder. He played in 43 games in 2021, hitting for a .222 batting average. In 2022, he played in 18 games for the Pirates. He was then removed from the team's main roster on May 30.

Time with Other Teams

On June 5, 2022, another team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, picked up Cole Tucker. They sent him to their Triple-A team, the Reno Aces. He played 35 games for the Reno Aces. After the season, he chose to become a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team.

On December 7, 2022, Cole signed a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies. He started the 2023 season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. He played well, hitting .311 with 5 home runs. On August 7, 2023, the Rockies added him to their major league team. He played in 3 games for Colorado. He was later removed from the main roster and sent back to the minor leagues. He became a free agent again on October 4.

On January 28, 2024, Cole signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners. He was released by the Mariners on March 18, 2024.

On April 10, 2024, Cole signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels. He played 10 games for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. On April 29, the Angels added him to their major league team. He played in 24 games for the Angels. On June 17, 2024, he was removed from the Angels' main roster. He chose to become a free agent on October 1, 2024.

On May 20, 2025, Cole Tucker announced that he was retiring from professional baseball.

Personal Life

Cole Tucker was a fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks when he was growing up. His younger brother, Carson Tucker, was also chosen in the first round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft by the Cleveland Indians.

In 2020, Cole began dating actress Vanessa Hudgens. They got married on December 2, 2023, in Tulum, Mexico. The couple welcomed their first child in late June or early July 2024. On July 12, 2025, they announced they were expecting a second child.
