Colfax is a small place in Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. In 2010, about 4,136 people lived there.

Colfax is close to bigger cities like Greensboro and High Point. It's right in the middle of an area known as the Piedmont Triad. A popular spot in Colfax is the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. Here, people can buy fresh food directly from local farmers.

The main school in the area is Colfax Elementary. It's part of the Guilford County Schools system. Colfax is also home to one of the biggest piano sellers in the country, Piano and Organ Distributors.

In 2000, the people of Colfax tried to become an official town. This process is called incorporation. However, they couldn't because the area wasn't dense enough with people. This didn't meet the rules for becoming a town in North Carolina. Later, parts of Colfax were added to the nearby cities. Greensboro took over some areas in 2008. High Point took over southern parts in 2010. Still, some parts of Colfax remain unincorporated today.
