Colin Scott is a famous Australian rugby league player. He played in the 1970s and 1980s. Colin was known for playing as a fullback. He was one of the very first players for the Queensland State of Origin team. He also played for the Brisbane Broncos when they first started.

Early Life and Rugby Beginnings

Colin Scott was born on March 23, 1960, in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. He is from an Indigenous background. Colin started playing rugby league when he was young for a team called Souths Townsville. He played alongside his future teammate, Gene Miles.

Professional Playing Career

Colin Scott began his senior rugby league career with Souths Townsville. He first played for Queensland in the interstate series in 1979.

Moving to Brisbane

In 1980, Colin moved to Brisbane and joined the Easts Tigers team. That same year, he was chosen to play as fullback in the very first State of Origin game. This was a big deal, even though he was playing in a lower team at the time.

Success with Wynnum-Manly

In 1981, Colin joined the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. He played fullback when they won the BRL Grand Final in 1982. This was a great achievement for the team.

Playing for Australia

Even though Colin was a top player for Queensland, he missed out on a big tour in 1982. However, in 1983, he got to play for Australia in a Test match against New Zealand. This was his only game for Australia. He played 25 times for his state, including 17 State of Origin games.

Time in England

In 1985, Colin Scott went to England to play for the Castleford Tigers. He stayed with the club for two seasons. While there, he played in the Yorkshire Cup Final in 1985. The team lost that game. The next year, in 1986, he helped Castleford win the 1986 Yorkshire Cup Final.

Return to Queensland

Colin continued to play for Queensland in the Interstate and State of Origin series until 1987. He was a key player for many years.

Joining the Brisbane Broncos

In 1988, Colin Scott joined the brand new Brisbane Broncos team. This team was just starting in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership. He played 14 games for them in their first season. This included their very first game, where they won by a large score against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

After Rugby League

In 2000, Colin Scott received the Australian Sports Medal. This award recognized his important contributions to rugby league in Australia and its standing around the world.
