Communist Party of India facts for kids
The Communist Party of India, abbreviated as CPI or CPI(M), is a political party in India. It was founded in the British era in the early 20th century. The first attempt to create the Communist Party of India was at Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan in 1920. The major persons behind this party were Narendranath Bhattacharya alias Manabendranath Roy, Shripad Amrit Dange of Bombay, Singaravelu of Madras, and Muzaffar Ahmed of Calcutta. Presently this party is named the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
