The Confederate Mothers Monument is a special statue located in Texarkana, Texas. It is also known by other names, like the Confederate Memorial or Texarkana Confederate Memorial. This monument stands on State Line Road in Texas. It faces a unique building that serves both Texas and Arkansas.

About the Confederate Mothers Monument
This monument was officially dedicated on April 21, 1918. A person named Henry Allen designed it. His company, Allen Monuments, built the statue. The two main figures on the monument were brought all the way from Italy.
What Does the Monument Look Like?
The monument is made from marble. It is believed to be the only Confederate monument in Texas that includes a woman. There are two figures carved into the marble. One figure represents a Confederate mother. The other figure is a Confederate soldier. The soldier statue faces north.
Messages on the Monument
The statue of the Confederate mother has a special message carved into it. It says: "O Great Confederate Mothers, we would print your names on monuments, that men may read them as the years go by and tribute pay to you, who bore and nurtured hero sons and gave them solace on that darkest hour, when they came home with broken swords and guns". This message honors the mothers. The Confederate soldier statue has a shorter message. It simply reads: "To our loyal Confederates".
Who Takes Care of the Monument?
A group called the United Daughters of the Confederacy helped build this monument. However, the local chapter of this group later stopped operating. A new chapter does not own the monument. Because of this, the city of Texarkana is now in charge of keeping the monument in good condition.
