A Look Back in Time
Congosto de Valdavia has an interesting past! One of its small villages, called Cornoncillo, might have been part of a big military event. Some people think it's linked to the Roman leader Augustus and his battles against the Cantabri people long ago.
Another village in the area, Villanueva de Abajo, started in the 10th century. This was when people moved to new places to build communities. In this village, an old cemetery from the Middle Ages has been found. It's called a necropolis and gives us clues about how people lived and were buried back then.
