Congress of the Republic of Peru facts for kids
The Congress of the Republic of Peru (Spanish: Congreso de la República) is the unicameral body that is legislative power in Peru.
The current Congress of Peru, sworn in after the 2020 elections, was elected after the dissolution of the previous Congress by President Martin Vizcarra.
Congressmen serve for a five-year term and can be re-elected as many times as they want even though this is very rare. Elections for congress happen at the same time as the election for president.
In 2020, Mirtha Vásquez was elected President of the Congress.
