Connie Teaberry-Lindsey was born on August 15, 1970, in St. Louis, Missouri. She started high jumping when she was in sixth grade. This early start helped her develop her incredible talent. She attended Lutheran High School North in St. Louis. There, she continued to shine as a high jumper.

College Success at Kansas State

After high school, Connie went to Kansas State University. She competed for the Kansas State Wildcats track and field team. Her coach there was Cliff Rovelto. Connie was a very strong competitor in college. She reached the finals of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) outdoor championships four years in a row. She also made it to the NCAA indoor finals in 1990 and 1992. Her hard work and dedication paid off. In 2016, Kansas State University honored her by putting her into their Hall of Fame.

Competing in the Olympics

Connie's dream of competing at the highest level came true in 1996. She participated in the 1996 Olympic Trials. This event helps choose athletes for the U.S. Olympic team. At these trials, Connie set her personal best record in the high jump. She jumped an amazing 1.95 meters! This incredible jump earned her a spot on the United States team. She then represented her country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She finished 18th in the high jump competition.
