Constitución is a small town located in the Salto Department of northwestern Uruguay. It is also the name of the local government area, called a municipality, that the town is a part of.
Where is Constitución?
This town is found about 38 kilometers (which is about 24 miles) north of the city of Salto. It is located right on the eastern bank of the Uruguay River. You can find it about 12 kilometers (around 7.5 miles) west of a major road called Route 3.
A Look at Constitución's History
Constitución has grown over many years. On July 11, 1852, it was officially recognized as a "Pueblo," which means a village. Later, on July 14, 1977, its status was upgraded. It became a "Villa," which means a town. This change showed that Constitución was growing and becoming more important.
