Demond Price (born February 16, 1982), known professionally as Conway the Machine, is an American rapper. He is also a co-founder of the hip hop record label Griselda Records. He started this label with his half-brother Westside Gunn and cousin Benny the Butcher. Conway is known for his unique and powerful style of rap music.

He became well-known after releasing his mixtape Reject 2 in 2015. His first studio album, From King to a God, came out in 2020. His second album, God Don't Make Mistakes, was released in 2022 by Shady Records and received great reviews. In February 2022, Conway announced he was leaving Shady and Griselda Records. He then started his own record label called Drumwork. He still works with Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher on music projects.

Conway's Music Journey

Starting His Career

During his younger years, Demond Price thought a lot about his future. He decided to focus on his dream of making music. In 2012, Conway faced a serious challenge when he was injured. Doctors initially thought he might not be able to move much. However, he recovered, and the only lasting effect is a slight change in his face, which gives him his unique speaking style.

In 2014, his half-brother Westside Gunn started Griselda Records. Through this label, Conway and Westside Gunn released their own music. They also helped other artists like Benny the Butcher share their work. In 2015, Conway released his first two official mixtapes, The Devil's Reject and Reject 2, through Griselda Records. He also released two collaborative music collections with Westside Gunn through a London-based label called Daupe!. These were Hall & Nash in 2015 and Griselda Ghost in 2016.

Joining Shady Records

In April 2016, Conway met Prodigy, a famous rapper from the group Mobb Deep. Prodigy became one of Conway's first important supporters and collaborators. On March 3, 2017, Griselda Records signed a deal with Eminem's Shady Records. This was a big step for Conway and his group.

Later in 2017, Conway performed a rap verse at the BET Hip Hop Awards. That same year, a magazine called Complex listed Westside Gunn and Conway as one of the "15 Best Unofficial Rap Duos." They were also named two of the "17 Artists to Watch in 2017." After joining Shady Records, Conway released his first official project, G.O.A.T., on December 21, 2017. This project featured music produced by Daringer and The Alchemist. It also included other famous rappers like Royce Da 5'9", Raekwon, Prodigy, Styles P, and Lloyd Banks.

Studio Albums and Recent Work

On May 16, 2019, Conway, Benny The Butcher, and Westside Gunn released a new song with DJ Premier called "Headlines." Conway also released the song "Bang" on July 19, 2019. This song was expected to be from his album God Don't Make Mistakes.

Even though God Don't Make Mistakes was planned as his first album, Conway's debut studio album ended up being From King to a God, which he released on September 11, 2020. He then released the mixtape La Maquina in April 2021.

God Don't Make Mistakes was finally released on February 25, 2022, as Conway's second studio album. His third studio album, Won't He Do It, came out on May 5, 2023. This was Conway's first album not released with Griselda. His most recent album, Slant Face Killah, was released on May 10, 2024.
