Carvel CookiePuss
Carvel's Cookie Puss cake

Cookie Puss is a famous ice cream cake character. It was created by Carvel in the 1970s. Cookie Puss is known for its fun clown face. It has cookies for eyes and an ice cream cone for a nose.

Carvel says Cookie Puss is an alien from space. He was born on a planet called Birthday. His first name was "Celestial Person." But his initials, "C.P.," later became "Cookie Puss." In his old TV ads, Cookie Puss could fly. He used a special saucer-shaped spaceship to travel between planets. In the 1980s, Carvel also made a special version for St. Patrick's Day. It was called "Cookie O'Puss" and is still sold every year.

How Cookie Puss Looks

The design of Cookie Puss has changed over time. It was first introduced in 1972. Carvel chef Andrew Bianchi created the original look. It was a pear-shaped cake. The stores would add frosting to make the face.

Later, Carvel tried using a printed face on a large cookie wafer. This was to make all cakes look the same. But some Carvel store owners did not like this idea. A group led by Liam Gray came up with a new plan. They used items already in the stores. These were sugar cones and Flying Saucer ice cream sandwiches. This new design became very popular. By 1974, Carvel made it the official look for Cookie Puss.
