Cooper Webb, born on November 10, 1995, is an amazing American professional racer. He rides special motorcycles in exciting sports called motocross and supercross. He has been racing in big championships like the AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships since 2013.
Cooper has won many titles! He's a three-time champion in the 450cc AMA Supercross. He also won the 250cc AMA Supercross West championship twice. Plus, he's a 250cc AMA Motocross Champion. Another famous racer, Ricky Carmichael, called him a "warrior and a fighter" because he's so determined. Cooper uses the number 2 on his bike, just like other legendary riders such as Jeremy McGrath and Ryan Villopoto.

Cooper Webb's Racing Journey
Early Life and First Races
Cooper was born in Newport, North Carolina. His dad, Robert, was a professional surfer who also raced motocross back in the 1970s. Cooper started racing motocross when he was just 4 years old! His first race was at Kinley MX.
When he was 6, he won his first amateur championship. He rode a Yamaha PW50 bike. In 2010, he was even named the youth motocrosser of the year.
Starting Professional Racing (2013-2018)
Cooper Webb became a professional motocross racer when he was 17. He joined the Yamaha factory racing team in 2013. He won his first big AMA National race on June 28, 2014. This was in the 250cc class at the Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee. He was also named the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross Rookie of the Year. This award goes to the best new rider.
In 2015, Cooper won the 250SX Western Regional supercross championship. He successfully defended this title the next year, winning it again in 2016. He also won the 2016 250cc AMA Motocross Championship. This made him the 11th rider to win back-to-back titles. He won 42% of his races during this time. Cooper was also the team captain for the American team in the 2016 Motocross des Nations race. His team finished second to the French team.
Joining Red Bull KTM (2019-2023)
In 2019, Cooper Webb had an amazing year that changed his career. He started the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship as an underdog. But he quickly became a top rider. He won his first 450SX main event at Anaheim 2.
Riding for Red Bull KTM, he won seven main events that year. He also finished on the podium (top three) 13 times in the 17-round series. His steady riding and smart race moves helped him beat rivals like Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen. Cooper won his first 450SX title at the final race in Las Vegas. This was a huge comeback and he also won the 2019 Triple Crown title.
In 2020, Cooper had a big crash in Arlington, Texas. This injury kept him out of the outdoor racing season. But he still managed to finish second in the 2020 supercross points standings, right behind Eli Tomac.
In 2021, Cooper Webb showed incredible skill in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. He won his second 450SX title with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. He started the season by finishing ninth in the first race. But he quickly moved up in the standings. He passed early leader Ken Roczen by the middle of the season.
Cooper won eight main events and had 13 podium finishes in the 17-round series. He showed how consistent and tough he was. He had a 22-point lead going into the final race in Salt Lake City. He only needed to finish 19th to win the championship. But he chose to win the race instead, sealing his title in a dominant way.
On June 22, ESPN announced the nominees for the 2021 ESPY Awards. After winning his second supercross championship, Cooper was nominated for his first ESPY Award. This was in the Best Athlete, Men's Action Sports Category.
After a tough end to his supercross season, Cooper raced in the first four national races. But he was sidelined again due to an injury. He also left Red Bull KTM after five successful years. During this time, he won two 450cc AMA Supercross Championships. On September 8, it was announced that Cooper would return to his old team, Yamaha Star Racing, with a new multi-year deal.
Back with Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha (2024-Present)
In 2024, Cooper Webb raced his first 450 class season back with Star Yamaha since 2018. He joined teammates Eli Tomac and rookie Justin Cooper. Cooper started the 2024 Supercross Championship slowly. But he got his first win at Anaheim 2 in Round 4. After that, Cooper became the main rival to Honda rider Jett Lawrence, who was new to the 450 SX class.
Cooper won four races and had five other podium finishes that season. He finished second in the 450 SX points standings. He later shared that he had been dealing with a thumb injury since Round 9. On November 4, Cooper announced a new partnership with Fly Racing. On November 17, Cooper was crowned the King of Paris Supercross for the first time in his career.
2025 Season Highlights
Cooper Webb's 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season was a masterclass. He showed amazing consistency, toughness, and smart racing. This led him to win his third 450SX championship title. Cooper won many races throughout the season. These included great performances in Detroit, Arlington, Indianapolis, Seattle, and Pittsburgh. He consistently finished on the podium, showing how steady he was over the 17-round season.
At 29 years and 6 months old, Cooper became the oldest racer to win the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. He was very excited and proud to join the group of legendary riders with three premier class titles.
