Cornelius is a small, unincorporated community located in Brown County, Indiana, in the United States. Being "unincorporated" means it's not an official city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Jackson Township.
History of Cornelius
The community of Cornelius got its name from an early settler who helped start the area. In 1893, a post office was opened in Cornelius. This was a big deal for the community! A post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It also made it easier for people to connect with others far away. The post office served the community for several years. However, it eventually closed down in 1907. Even though the post office is gone, the name Cornelius still marks this historic spot in Indiana.
