Cornelius Cleopatrick Randolph (born June 2, 1997) is an American professional baseball player. He plays as an outfielder for the Tigres de Quintana Roo in the Mexican League. The Philadelphia Phillies chose him as the 10th overall pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.

Becoming a Baseball Pro

Cornelius Randolph went to Griffin High School in Griffin, Georgia. In his final year of high school, he was an amazing hitter. He hit for a .533 batting average, which means he got a hit more than half the times he batted. He also hit eight home runs.

Randolph had planned to play college baseball for the Clemson Tigers. However, the Philadelphia Phillies picked him early in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 10th player chosen overall! After being drafted, he decided to sign with the Phillies. He received a signing bonus of over $3.2 million.

Playing for the Philadelphia Phillies

Randolph started his professional baseball journey with the Gulf Coast League Phillies. This is a team for new players just starting out. In 53 games, he batted .302 and hit one home run.

In 2016, he played for the Lakewood BlueClaws. He continued to play well, hitting .274 with two home runs in 63 games. The next year, 2017, Randolph moved up to the Clearwater Threshers. He played in 122 games, hitting 13 home runs and bringing in 55 runs for his team. After that season, he also played in the Arizona Fall League for the Glendale Desert Dogs.

In 2018, Randolph played for the Reading Fightin Phils. He hit five home runs and had 40 runs batted in over 118 games. He returned to Reading in 2019, where he hit ten home runs and had 44 runs batted in.

The 2020 minor league season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Randolph did not play that year. In 2021, he spent most of his time with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, a Triple-A team. He also played a few games for the Florida Complex League Phillies. After the 2021 season, he became a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team.

Time with the Chicago White Sox

On March 8, 2022, Randolph signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox. He was sent to play for their Double-A team, the Birmingham Barons. However, he only played in 11 games for the Barons before being released by the White Sox on May 3, 2022.

Playing for the Kane County Cougars

After leaving the White Sox, Randolph joined the Kane County Cougars on May 10, 2022. This team plays in the American Association of Professional Baseball, which is an independent league. He had a great season with the Cougars, playing in 87 games. He hit .310, blasted 14 home runs, and stole 13 bases. He was released by the team in November 2022.

Randolph re-signed with the Cougars on May 1, 2023. He played in 63 games that year, hitting five home runs. He became a free agent again at the end of the season.

In January 2024, Randolph signed with the Dorados de Chihuahua of the Mexican League. However, he was released by them before the season started in April.

On May 2, 2024, Randolph returned to the Kane County Cougars for a third time. He had an excellent season, hitting .343 with 11 home runs and 58 runs batted in over 79 games. He helped the Cougars win their third championship in team history! They swept the Winnipeg Goldeyes to win the Miles Wolff Cup Championship. Randolph was named the Series MVP (Most Valuable Player) for his amazing performance.

Joining the Tigres de Quintana Roo

On November 8, 2024, Cornelius Randolph signed with the Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Mexican League. He continues his professional baseball career with this team.
