Corners was a fun children's television series from the BBC that aired in the 1980s. The show was all about answering questions sent in by viewers. These questions were usually about general knowledge or Science.
Two hosts, Tracy Brabin (and later Sophie Aldred or Diane-Louise Jordan) and Simon Davies, would try to find the answers. They got help from a friendly animal puppet named Jo Corner. Jo was brought to life by Robin Stevens, who also worked on Tots TV later.
Because it was a kids' show, they used lots of humor to explain things. They often did funny demonstrations that turned into slapstick (silly physical comedy). They even sang songs! Another show called "Dear Mr. Barker" was similar and aired later, but it wasn't on for very long.
Who Were the Presenters?
The show had several presenters over its run. Tracy Brabin was one of the first hosts. Later, Sophie Aldred and Diane-Louise Jordan also joined the team.
Sophie Aldred's Famous Role
One of the presenters, Sophie Aldred, became very well-known after Corners. She played the character Ace in the popular science fiction series Doctor Who. Before she joined Doctor Who, Sophie even met the composer Keff McCulloch on Corners. She learned how the new Doctor Who theme music was created.
Simon Davies's Career
Simon Davies was another main presenter on Corners. He has continued his career in television. Simon is now known as a writer and performer.
