Cornish Orchards is a company that makes delicious cider and fruit juices. They are based in a beautiful part of England called Duloe, which is in Cornwall. They are known for using apples from local orchards to create their drinks.
The Story of Cornish Orchards
Cornish Orchards was started by a person named Andy Atkinson. He began the company in 1999. It all started at Westnorth Manor Farm. This farm is owned by the Duchy Of Cornwall.
The farm has its own apple orchards. These orchards cover about 15 acres of land. They grow many old and special types of apples. But Cornish Orchards also buys apples from other local farms. This helps them make sure they have enough apples for all their tasty drinks.
Growing Bigger: New Owners
In 2013, something big happened for Cornish Orchards. The company was sold to a larger group. This group was called Fuller, Smith and Turner. They are a brewing and pubs company from London. It was a very large deal worth millions of pounds.
Then, in 2019, Fuller's itself was bought by an even bigger company. This company is called Asahi Breweries. Asahi Breweries paid about £250 million for Fuller's. Even though they have new owners, both Fuller's and Cornish Orchards still use their original names. They continue to make their products just as before.
Winning Awards for Great Taste
Cornish Orchards has won many special awards. These awards are for their amazing cider. For example, in 2012, they won a gold award. This was at the national cider and perry championships. The competition was held in Reading. It was organized by the Campaign for Real Ale. This shows how good their ciders really are!
