The Story of Cornish Orchards
How it Started
A person named Andy Atkinson started Cornish Orchards in 1999. He began on Westnorth Manor Farm. This farm is part of the Duchy of Cornwall, which is a special estate that helps support the Prince of Wales. The farm grows its own apples, about 15 acres worth! They grow old types of apples, called heritage varieties. They also buy apples from other farms nearby.
Becoming Part of Bigger Companies
In 2013, a bigger company bought Cornish Orchards. This company was Fuller, Smith and Turner, a brewing and pubs group from London. Then, in 2019, another large company called Asahi Breweries bought Fuller's. Even though they are part of a bigger group, both Fuller's and Cornish Orchards still use their original names.
Awards and Recognition
Cornish Orchards has won many awards for its cider. For example, in 2012, they won a gold medal. This was at the national cider and perry championships. These championships are run by the Campaign for Real Ale, a group that supports traditional drinks.
