Cornwall Hills: A Mountain Range in British Columbia

The Cornwall Hills are an important part of the landscape in British Columbia. They help define the geography of the region by creating a natural boundary between two different water systems.

How the Cornwall Hills Got Their Name

The Cornwall Hills were named after two brothers, Clement Francis Cornwall and Henry Cornwall. Clement Francis Cornwall was a well-known early settler in the area who later became the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia. A Lieutenant-Governor is like a representative of the King or Queen in a Canadian province. The brothers owned a large farm called the Ashcroft Manor Ranch, which was also known as the Cornwall Ranch. This ranch was located on the western side of these very hills.

Nearby Mountain Ranges

To the north of the Cornwall Hills, you'll find the Trachyte Hills. These hills stretch towards the middle part of Hat Creek and end near Lower Hat Creek. To the south, the Cornwall Hills connect with a part of the Clear Range. The Clear Range also helps form the natural boundary around the Hat Creek area.
