Cory Aldridge's Baseball Journey
Starting His Professional Career
Cory Aldridge was chosen by the Atlanta Braves in the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft. This was a big step for him to start his professional baseball career. He worked his way up through the minor leagues.
Playing in the Major Leagues
Cory first played in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Atlanta Braves in 2001. He played in eight games that season. Later, in 2010, he joined the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. This is where he got his first ever hit in a major league game! It was an RBI triple against the Oakland Athletics, which means he hit the ball far and helped a teammate score a run.
Time with Other Teams
After playing for the Braves and Angels, Cory continued his baseball journey. In 2008, he played for the Triple-A Omaha Royals, which is a high level in minor league baseball. He also had a very good season in 2009 with the Greenville Jacks. He hit 31 home runs and had 102 RBIs, showing his power as a hitter.
In 2011, Cory played in the KBO League for the Nexen Heroes in South Korea. He hit 20 home runs and had 73 RBIs there. He later signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. He also played in the Mexican League and returned to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's minor league system that same year. In 2014, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays organization, playing for their Double-A and Triple-A teams.
About Cory's Family
Cory Aldridge's father, Jerry Aldridge, was also a professional athlete. He played American football as a halfback for the San Francisco 49ers. It's cool that both Cory and his dad were professional sportsmen!
