Cory Steven Jane (born 8 February 1983) is a famous former New Zealand rugby player. He is now an assistant coach. Cory was a key part of the team that won the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

He first played for the All Blacks in 2008. Cory usually played as a winger, which is a fast player on the side of the field. In 2011, he joined the Tri Nations team. Soon after, he was chosen for the Rugby World Cup squad.

Cory Jane's Rugby Journey

Cory Jane was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He played for several important rugby teams.

Early Career and Teams

  • Cory played for Wellington in the Mitre 10 Cup.
  • He also played for the Wellington Hurricanes in Super Rugby.
  • Before that, he played for Hawke's Bay.

Cory is also part of the Ngāti Kahungunu Māori tribe. He represented the New Zealand Māori team in 2006.

Winning Gold in Rugby Sevens

Cory was part of the New Zealand team that won a gold medal. This happened at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Rugby Sevens. Rugby Sevens is a faster version of rugby with fewer players.

In 2006, Cory was one of the top try-scorers in the Air New Zealand Cup. He scored 6 tries that season.

Playing for the All Blacks

Cory Jane was a member of the 2011 Rugby World Cup winning All Blacks team. This was a huge achievement for him and New Zealand.

In 2012, he played on the wing for the Hurricanes. He was injured and missed some games for the All Blacks. But he returned for the 2012 Rugby Championship. He helped the All Blacks beat Australia in the Bledisloe Cup. Cory also played in the All Blacks' End-of-Year Tour in 2012. They won against Scotland, Wales, and Italy.

In January 2013, Cory had a serious leg injury. This stopped him from playing in Super Rugby. He also missed the series against France. In October 2013, he returned to the All Blacks team. He played two games for Wellington first. He was chosen for the final Bledisloe Cup match. However, he was ruled out due to another injury. He then joined the All Blacks squad for the 2013 end-of-year tests. He played against France, marking his return to international rugby.

Cory almost made the 2015 Rugby World Cup squad for New Zealand.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing rugby in 2017, Cory Jane became a coach. He is now an assistant coach for the Hurricanes team.
