Cory Steven Jane (born February 8, 1983) is a former New Zealand international rugby union player. He is now an assistant coach. Cory was part of the team that won the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

He first played for the All Blacks in 2008. Cory usually played as a winger, which is a fast player on the side of the field. In 2011, he joined the Tri Nations team. Later that year, he was chosen for the 30-player Rugby World Cup squad.

Cory Jane's Rugby Career

Cory Jane was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He played for the Wellington team in the Mitre 10 Cup. He also played for the Wellington Hurricanes in Super Rugby.

Early Rugby Days

Before joining Wellington, Cory played for Hawke's Bay. He was also part of the New Zealand Sevens team. This team won a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in rugby sevens. Cory is of Ngāti Kahungunu descent. He represented the New Zealand Māori team in 2006.

In 2006, Cory was one of the top try scorers in the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup. He scored 6 tries, showing his skill at getting the ball over the try line.

World Cup Victory and Challenges

Cory was a key member of the 2011 Rugby World Cup winning All Blacks team. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.

In 2012, he continued to play on the wing for the Hurricanes. He missed some games for the All Blacks due to an injury. However, he was back for the 2012 Rugby Championship. He helped the All Blacks beat Australia in the Bledisloe Cup. Cory also played in the All Blacks' End-of-Year Tour in 2012. During this tour, they won against Scotland, Wales, and Italy.

Overcoming Injuries

In January 2013, Cory suffered a serious leg injury. This meant he could not play in Super Rugby or the series against France that year. But he worked hard to recover. In October 2013, he was called back to the All Blacks team. This happened after he played two games for Wellington in the ITM Cup. He was set to play in the final Bledisloe Cup match but was ruled out due to another injury. He returned to international rugby later in 2013, playing against France.

Cory just missed out on being chosen for New Zealand's 2015 Rugby World Cup squad.

Coaching Role

After retiring from playing rugby in 2017, Cory Jane started a new role. He became an assistant coach for the Hurricanes team. This allows him to share his experience and knowledge with new players.
