Cosquín is a town in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It is located about 52 kilometers (32 miles) west of the city of Córdoba. About 57,000 people lived there in 2010.

Cosquín is the main town of the Punilla Department. It sits on the banks of the Cosquín River. A small mountain called Cerro Pan de Azúcar is also nearby.

History of Cosquín

Cosquín is the oldest town in the beautiful Punilla Valley. People were already living in this area in the 1500s. Cosquín was officially named a "villa" (town) on August 4, 1876. It became a city on August 26, 1939.

Why Cosquín Was Popular

In the past, Cosquín was known for its good weather. Doctors often suggested it for people with lung problems. Many hospitals and special health centers were built there. Patients came from all over Argentina and even other countries.

As new treatments became available, this type of health tourism became less popular. So, Cosquín started to focus more on regular tourism.

Cosquín's Famous Festival

Since 1961, Cosquín has hosted a big event every year. It is called the National Folklore Festival. This festival celebrates traditional Argentine music and dance. Around 100,000 visitors come to enjoy the festival each year.
