Coulombs was once a small village, also known as a commune, located in the northwestern part of France. It was part of the Calvados area, which is like a county, within the Normandy region, similar to a state. Coulombs was known for its quiet, countryside feel.
On January 1, 2017, Coulombs joined with other nearby villages to create a new, larger commune called Moulins en Bessin. This means Coulombs is no longer a separate commune but is now part of a bigger community.
Population of Coulombs
The number of people living in Coulombs changed over the years. Here's a look at how its population grew:
Historical population | ||
---|---|---|
Year | Pop. | ±% |
1962 | 189 | — |
1968 | 176 | −6.9% |
1975 | 171 | −2.8% |
1982 | 176 | +2.9% |
1990 | 185 | +5.1% |
1999 | 246 | +33.0% |
2008 | 300 | +22.0% |
As you can see, the population was quite small in the 1960s and 1970s. It started to grow more quickly in the late 1990s and early 2000s, reaching 300 people by 2008. This growth shows that more families and individuals chose to live in Coulombs before it became part of Moulins en Bessin.
