Counce is a small place in Hardin County, Tennessee. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Counce is located very close to the Mississippi border, right along Tennessee State Route 57.
You'll find Counce next to the Tennessee River, near the big Pickwick Landing Dam. In 2020, about 316 people lived there. The community got its name from the Counce families, who were the first people to settle in this area.
Train Lines and History
Counce is an important spot for trains. It's the end point for a Kansas City Southern train line. This railway line has an interesting history.
From Local to Major Rail
The train line that now reaches Counce was first known as the Corinth and Counce Railroad. Later, it became part of a company called MidSouth Rail Corporation. Eventually, the larger Kansas City Southern company took over MidSouth, making Counce a part of their network. This connection helps move goods in and out of the area.
