Courtney Louise McGregor (born 17 November 1998) is a talented former artistic gymnast from New Zealand. She proudly represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Courtney retired from gymnastics in 2020.

About Courtney McGregor
Courtney McGregor was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1998. She lived there until May 2016. Her parents are Tina and Russell McGregor. Courtney is of Māori descent, connected to the Ngāti Kahungunu iwi (tribe). She went to Villa Maria College. Later, she studied through The Correspondence School, which allowed her to focus on her gymnastics training.
Courtney's Gymnastics Journey
Courtney started gymnastics when she was six years old. She quickly showed great promise. Her first big international events were in 2012 and 2013. She competed at the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Everett, USA. She also took part in the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney, Australia.
Competing on the World Stage
In 2014, Courtney competed at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China. This was a major step in her career. She continued to excel, earning a bronze medal in the vault event. This win happened at the 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships.
Reaching the Olympics
Courtney achieved her dream of qualifying for the Olympics in 2016. She earned her spot at the 2016 Gymnastics Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the first artistic gymnast from New Zealand to compete at the Olympics since 2000. That year, Laura Robertson competed at the Sydney Olympics.
At just 17 years old, Courtney was the youngest New Zealand Olympian in 2016. At the Rio Olympics, she placed 41st overall. Her best performance was 13th on the vault.
College and Retirement
In May 2016, Courtney moved to the United States. She accepted a sports scholarship at Boise State University in Boise. There, she studied mathematics and philosophy. Her coach from Christchurch, Mary Wright, continued to train her in Boise.
In 2019, Courtney won the all-around competition for the Mountain West Conference. This was a big achievement in her college career. Sadly, she had to miss the 2020 season due to an injury. She ruptured her Achilles tendon, which is a serious injury for a gymnast. After this, she decided to retire from gymnastics.
