Coveland, Washington facts for kids
Coveland is a small, quiet place located on Whidbey Island in Island County, which is part of the U.S. state of Washington. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or buildings that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
History of Coveland
Coveland was first planned and settled way back in 1850. It got its name from a nearby body of water called Penn Cove, which is a beautiful inlet of the sea.
A few years later, in 1857, a post office was opened in Coveland. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office helped the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1881.
