Covello, Washington facts for kids
Covello is a small, quiet place in Columbia County, located in the U.S. state of Washington. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the county government.
A Look at Covello's Past
Covello got its name a long time ago, in 1882. This happened when a country store opened up in the area. Stores were very important back then, as they were often the center of a community.
Soon after, in 1883, a post office was opened in Covello. A post office is where people send and receive mail. Having a post office meant that Covello was a recognized place where people lived and worked. The post office served the community for many years, until it finally closed its doors in 1918.
