Troy Lee Coleman III (born December 18, 1970) is an American rapper and singer. He is better known by his stage name, Cowboy Troy. He is famous for his unique style of music called country rap, sometimes called "hick-hop." One of his most well-known songs is "I Play Chicken with the Train." Cowboy Troy has released many albums and EPs throughout his career.

Early Life and Name
Troy Lee Coleman III was born in Victoria, Texas, on December 18, 1970. He grew up and went to Skyline High School in Dallas. After high school, he studied at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a bachelor's degree there. Before becoming a singer, he worked as an assistant manager at a shoe store called Foot Locker in Dallas.
He got the name Cowboy Troy during his college years. He often wore a cowboy hat. One of his friends started calling him "Cowboy Troy" to tell him apart from other friends named Troy.
Music Career
Cowboy Troy released his first big album, Loco Motive, on May 17, 2005. This album was very popular. It reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. His song "I Play Chicken with the Train" also did very well. It became the No. 1 country download on the iTunes Music Store in April 2005.
In 2005, Cowboy Troy joined with other artists, Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich. They released a special song called "Our America." This song was a free download for a short time. They also performed it live at a concert in Boston. "Our America" mixed parts of the American national anthem with famous speeches and documents. These included the U.S. Constitution and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
Cowboy Troy also released other songs like "If You Don't Wanna Love Me." He sang this song with Sarah Buxton. He also released a song called "Hook 'Em Horns." This song celebrated his college football team, the Texas Longhorns, winning a big championship.
Later Years
From 2006 to 2007, Cowboy Troy co-hosted a TV show called Nashville Star. He hosted it with singer Jewel. The show helped new country music artists get discovered.
Troy also made special appearances on WWE's RAW wrestling show. He appeared in the crowd and even helped announce a match once. In 2007, he released another album called Black in the Saddle.
After some time, Troy released more albums. These included Demolition Mission: Studio Blue Sessions in 2009 and "King of Clubs" in 2014.
In 2012, Cowboy Troy performed on the TV show Dancing with the Stars. He sang his hit song "I Play Chicken With the Train" during the finale.
His 2017 song "Pork Chop" was used for a special event called "Porktober." This event promoted pork products in October 2017. In 2022, Troy also acted in a Western movie called Desperate Riders.
Personal Life
Cowboy Troy has shared his political views. He performed at the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minnesota. He describes himself as a black conservative. He is a member of the Republican Party. He supported Senator John McCain in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. This means he believed in McCain's ideas for the country.
