Cowley's History
The town of Cowley was named after Matthias F. Cowley. He was an important leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The town was officially settled on May 2, 1900.

High school students go to Rocky Mountain High School. Middle school students attend Rocky Mountain Middle School. Younger students go to Rocky Mountain Elementary School. All these schools are located within Cowley.
The historic Big Horn Academy Building was built in 1916. It served as Cowley High School from 1925 until 1983.
Cowley Pioneer Day and Museum
Every July, Cowley celebrates "Cowley Pioneer Day." This event happens on the weekend closest to July 24. It honors the town's early settlers and their history.
