The Story Behind the Name
Craddock got its name from an important person in its early days. A post office was opened in Craddock in 1893. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. The first person in charge of this post office was named Dan Craddock. He was the postmaster, and the community was named after him. The Craddock post office served the area for many years before it finally closed down in 1954.
