Where Was Craig Located?

Craig was in Modoc County, which is in the northeastern part of California. This area is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, including mountains, forests, and lakes. Being 10 kilometers north of Lookout means it was in a somewhat remote area. The Post Office Story

Craig had its own post office from 1886 to 1903. This means it operated for about 17 years. The very first person in charge of this post office was named Robert A. Craig. In his honor, the settlement was named "Craig." A postmaster (or postmistress) is the person who manages the post office and makes sure all the mail gets where it needs to go. When the post office closed in 1903, it often meant that the community itself was shrinking or that people were moving to larger towns nearby.
